Ripples Art Farm is the realisation of the long-held dream of artists Ruth and Darren Lindsell to establish an artistic hub where people from all backgrounds can come and explore their own and others’ creativity. The long-term vision being an arts centre showcasing the vast talent and variety of artists and makers across the Huon Valley and Tasmania.  Purchasing an organic apple and pear orchard at Petcheys Bay in 2013 was the beginning of this coming to fruition.

Apart from creating and installing large outdoor sculptures on their Sculpture Walk, they both have been immersed in resurrecting the orchard and being hands on in the planning and building processes of their vision.  To date the teaching art studio (Stage 1) is complete with work on the residence just beginning. To come is a large complex including art gallery, café and two retreat accommodation cottages, until then the art studio will double as the gallery/café as well as a teaching space.

Keeping in mind Ripples Art Farm is very much a work in progress, visitors to the farm, can walk the 2km Sculpture Walk, which starts at the studio on the banks of the Huon River estuary, meandering through the pear and apple orchards and up through the coastal forest.  Along the way, large sculptural works and installations are to be discovered as are the amazing views looking out over the Huon River and towards the Hartz Mountains.

Back down at the Studio, visitors can view the couples’ smaller sculptures and Ruth’s paintings, drawings and prints, which are inspired by the natural world.

Please note as this is a working farm, be aware that pets are not allowed on the property.

We will be re-opening this experience to visitors on the 1st November 2020, opening hours will be 10-4pm each Sunday.

2021 we will be opening the Art Studio for classes and gallery experiences 10-4pm every Saturday and Sunday.
